Domain

A web domain is the address you use to visit a website, such as "google.com" or "facebook.com". Think of it as your home address, but in the world of the internet.

Imagine you want to visit a store in a city. To find it, you would need the right address, such as "Via Roma, 10". Similarly, when you want to visit a website, you need the right address, and this address is the domain.

Every domain is unique, so no two sites can have the same domain. This helps you easily find the site you are looking for without confusing it with others.

A domain is made up of two main parts:

  • Domain name: This is the part you choose and can be the name of your business or something easy to remember. For example, in "google.com", "google" is the domain name.
  • Domain extension: This is the part that follows the dot, such as ".com", ".org", or ".it". It indicates the type of site or its geographic origin.

When you type a domain into your browser (such as Chrome or Firefox), your computer uses this address to find and display the website you want to visit.

In short, a web domain is the unique address you type to visit a site on the Internet, and it is made up of a name and an extension.
