Manage a project's budget in RevasOS

In the Budgeting section of the project-specific dashboard you can manage all the important aspects of the project-related budjet and register expenses and revenues, to keep track of the budget health as the project progresses.


Before you start

In order to be able to follow this guide you need to have an organization in RevasOS and be a contributor with the necessary permissions. You can find more infos in the roles and permissions section.

Turn on budgeting functions for a project

  1. Select Budget lines from the left sidebar in the project-specific dashboard;
  2. Click on Activate budgeting;

Note:

By turning on budgeting capabilities in a project the budget line General expenses will be created automatically,

Create a budget line

RevasOS allows you to create time specific budget lines to keep a project's budget health under control at all times. To create a budget line follow thse steps:

  1. Select Budget lines from the project-specific dasboard;
  2. Click on + New budget line in the top-right corner;
  3. Insert the title and description of the new budget line;
  4. Insert the time frame for the budget line;
  5. Insert planned cost and price for the budget line;
  6. Click Save;

The new budget line will be available in the Budget line view.

Manage expenses and revenues

Add expenses **⭐️**

Expenses in RevasOS can be divided into all the different budget lines of a project, this allows you to always keep up to date the budgeting status of the project. To add a new expense follow these steps:

  1. Select Expenses and revenues form the left sidebar of the prject-specific dashboard;
  2. Click on + New expense on the top-right corner;
  3. Select the desired budget line form the drop-down menu;
  4. Insert the desctiption of the expense and the value;
  5. Click on Save;

Alternatively you can also add new expenses directly inside the budget line detailed view:

  1. Select Budget lines from the project-specific dasboard;
  2. Locate the budget line you want to add an expense to;
  3. Click on the budget line's name;
  4. click on the + New expense button on the top right corner;
  5. Insert the desctiption of the expense and the value;
  6. Click on Save;

This way you can quicly add more expenses all in the same budget line.

Add revenues

Just like expenses, revenues in RevasOS can be divided into all the different budget lines of a project, allowing you to always keep the budgeting status of the project up to date. To add a new revenue follow these steps:

  1. Open the Invoices app in your RevasOS environment;
  2. Click on Sales in the left sidebar;
  3. Click on New invoice;
  4. Insert the details of the invoice;
  5. Select the budget line in which the revenue should be calculated;
  6. Click Save;
